Felt Christmas Ornaments to Make

The holidays are nearly upon us and its just about time to get the Christmas tree up. I don’t know about you, but we like to add an ornament or two from each holiday season. Every Christmas sees us adding one or two new Christmas ornaments. Making your own Christmas ornaments is fun, and gives the kids a great craft, as well as a pleasant memory for each Christmas season.
This holiday Christmas tree ornament is easy to make and easy to decorate, lasts a long time, is washable in most cases and is perfect for small fingers to accomplish. You will be delighted with the results of the Christmas ornaments you make, and they give you a keepsake. One of the things we do is to have the kids to bring a friend with them and have a holiday ornament party, where we serve hot cocoa and pretty Christmas cookies and the kids make their own ornament.
These felt ones are so easy. All you need are some embellishments, a few pieces of felt, some batting to stuff them with and some buttons, beads or anything else that you might like as decorations, a glue gun or some tacky glue, depending on the age of your kids, or you can thread needles for them and let them stitch their embellishments on it.
Cut your felt two pieces to each ornament you might like. Stitch on buttons, glue on bows, or holly leaves, any embellishment that you might desire. Stitch them together with a small opening left for the stuffing. There is no reason to leave a seam allowance as you will be stitching them on the side that you view for the most part. Felt is wonderful that way. Low maintenance and no fraying makes it incredibly easy to make ornaments with when children are involved. They are easy care as well and can be washed by hand if they get dusty or soiled, but do be careful if you glue your embellishments that you use a water resistant glue to do so.
