Safety and Freshness The real Christmas tree needs water to avoid drying out. Keep it safer and fresher looking by assuring that it can get to the water. To keep your tree fresh and safe, you will want to begin with cutting a fresh cut across the bottom, so that the tree can still drink. Keep the water level high enough that the tree can reach it, and refill it at least one time each day. Make sure that your tree’s stand has a large enough container for water to keep it drinking. christmas-tree-ideas-60 Preserving Your Real Tree. You can keep your tree looking fresh longer by mixing together a formula that will preserve it. four cups of water, one half cup of corn syrup and a hal teaspoon of regular household bleach will keep it fresher for longer. Beginning to Decorate Decorating your tree means that you add all the love to it that you do to every other part of Christmas. Begin with the lights, winding them inside the tree, a few inches away from the trunk, and then moving outward. Don’t skimp in the lighting department. christmas-tree-ideas-61 The Next Step in Decorating The second aspect of decorating your Christmas tree will be to add the garland. Drape it so that it covers any obvious bare spots and brings the tree together. Work from Inside to Outsite when decorating your holiday tree. Start from the trunk, moving your way to the outside of the tree when adding the lights, and the ornaments. This will assure that everything has something there to keep it covered. Don’t overdo the decorations on your Christmas tree. you do want to see some greenery too remember.

Placing the ornaments Don’t hang them all on the outside. Put ornaments and other type decorations on the inside of the tree as well, as filler for empty areas, and just for visual interest. As A General rule, you’re going to want about 200 lights for every two feet of Christmas tree for a tree that measures a few feet around. You will also want about twenty of the smaller, filling in type ornaments for the same two feet of Christmas tree. Those can be found fairly cheaply either online or at a dollar type store. Then buy some of the speciality ornaments that can be found, such as the Disney characters or other lovely ornaments to get your trees theme. Many people order from such stores as china or precious moments stores for their speciality ornaments. Place your themed ornaments on the outside where they will get the most exposure.

  • Hey thanks for the ideas and nice pics.

My home is choca-block at the moment with decorations made by my little girl, last week in school she made me a fairy for the Christmas tree out of a toilet paper tube – bless ;).

My favourite decoration at Christmas and in fact in any season are scented candles. The lighting and scents given off create a really festive feel which is kind of unbeatable :D.

    Thanks & Merry Christmas.
